Red Sandalwood, or Pterocarpus santalinus, is a small tree species  that has been said to have several benefits. Also known by the common name lal chandan and red sanders. The sandal tree has actually been being used for over four thousand years as a homeopathic remedy and also used as flavoring in alcoholic beverages. The Sandalwood tree species is only about 45 foot tall but takes almost 80 years to fully mature.
Is Yellow Sandalwood Available?
Unfortunately, yellow sandalwood (also known as Santalum album or Indian sandalwood) is endangered and India has regulations banning it's export, so we are unable to offer it for sale.

Can I produce aromatic oils with this item?
This species of sandalwood (Pterocarpus soyauxiisantalinus) is known for it's medicinal plant properties, not it's ability to be used to make oil. We also carry sandalwood essential oil from a different species (Santalum Album).
